Biography

Neil was born in 1974 in Lancashire, England. He spent his formative years making comics with friends, which made up for not being funny by not making any sense.

Following the obligatory period of educational faffdom, he worked his way up to senior software developer with a global accountancy firm. He might still be there now if it wasn’t for a piece of good fortune: being diagnosed with testicular cancer.

He went on to make a full recovery, but the experience changed him irrevocably. He realised that life was short, and would be better spent prancing about doing crazy foreign stuff than in meetings discussing technical scope changes.

A year spent travelling between New York and Buenos Aires cemented his desire to spend his life making a fool of himself in front of indigenous peoples, and coincidentally provided early writing material. He has since had numerous travel articles published.

In 2010 he travelled around Colombia on quest to learn ten different Latin American dances. You can read more about this on the site for the forthcoming book: Dancing Feat.

Neil stopped drinking alcohol in 2007 for health reasons. Also because it makes him feel superior. His ultimate aim is to stop talking about himself in the third person.
